Akkountable

New — explore a live demo business, no signup

Bookkeeping that does itself.

Built for small businesses: upload the bank statements, credit card statements, and reports you already get. AI extracts every transaction, categorizes it, and reconciles your books. You answer a few questions. That's the whole job.

No bank logins. No data entry. No accounting degree. Free for 30 days, then from $49/month. The demo is a real HVAC company's books — no signup needed.

How it works

Upload → Review → Done

01

Upload your documents

Drag in a month of statements and reports. Originals are preserved in encrypted storage as your financial evidence.

02

Answer a few questions

AI handles over 90% of transactions on its own. The rest — an unlabeled check, an ambiguous purchase — become one-click questions in a single review queue.

03

Close the month

Statements reconcile to the penny, reports are ready — P&L, balance sheet, cash flow — and closed months are locked so your numbers never drift.

Why Akkountable

Simple for you. Rigorous underneath.

Reads your documents for you

PDFs, CSVs, spreadsheets, even photos. Bank statements, credit card statements, Square, DoorDash, Uber Eats, payroll, invoices, loan statements — every transaction extracted, no typing.

Reconciled to the penny

Every statement is checked against its own beginning and ending balances. When the math doesn't tie out, you see the exact difference — nothing is hidden or fudged.

Real accounting underneath

A true double-entry ledger with balanced journal entries, locked closed months, and an append-only audit trail. Simple on the surface, rigorous where it counts.

Private by design

Account numbers, card numbers, and SSNs are masked before AI ever sees a document. Originals live in encrypted private storage. Your data is never training material.

Learns your business

Correct a category once and it remembers. Deterministic rules for your vendors always outrank AI guesses. Month by month, it asks less and does more.

Multiple businesses, one login

Run the restaurant and the food truck side by side. Each business keeps fully separate books, its own rules, and its own team — switch in one click.

Pricing

Simple, flat pricing.

Restaurants first

Built for restaurants and food businesses first

Most bookkeeping software treats a restaurant like an office. We started with one. Akkountable understands the messy reality: DoorDash takes its commission before the deposit lands, Square deposits mix card sales with tips and tax, cash from the register never shows up in the bank feed, and the truck has its own loan.

  • Gross sales with delivery commissions broken out as expenses
  • Cash sales booked from your POS report, not the bank
  • Food costs tracked as true cost of goods sold
  • Equipment and vehicle loans on the books, payments auto-routed
  • Sales tax payments tracked as a liability, not an expense
  • 1099 contractor totals ready every January

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who is Akkountable for?+

Small businesses — and only small businesses. Akkountable is built for owner-operated companies: restaurants, food trucks, HVAC and trade contractors, salons, shops, and service businesses that want accurate books without hiring a bookkeeper or learning accounting software. It is not designed for enterprises or companies with in-house finance teams.

How does AI bookkeeping work in Akkountable?+

You upload the financial documents you already receive — bank statements, credit card statements, POS and delivery platform reports. AI reads each document, extracts every transaction, suggests an accounting category, and posts balanced double-entry records. Anything it isn't confident about becomes a simple question for you to answer. Your books stay accurate because every statement is reconciled against its own printed balances.

Is my financial data safe?+

Yes. Original documents are stored in encrypted private storage and are never publicly accessible. Before any content is sent to an AI model, sensitive identifiers — account numbers, card numbers, Social Security numbers, routing numbers — are detected and masked. Each business's data is isolated at the database level, enforced by row-level security.

Do I need to connect my bank account?+

No. Akkountable is document-driven: the PDF and CSV statements you already download are the source of truth. There are no bank logins to share and no fragile account connections to maintain.

Is Akkountable good for restaurants?+

It was built for restaurants first. It understands Square, DoorDash, and Uber Eats reports, records gross sales with platform fees broken out as expenses, books register cash sales from your POS report, and routes loan and credit card payments correctly. Food costs, delivery commissions, and merchant fees each show up clearly on your profit and loss report.

Can my accountant use it?+

Yes. You can invite your accountant or bookkeeper with a dedicated role: they can review transactions, adjust classifications, reconcile statements, and make year-end adjusting entries — with every change recorded in an audit trail. Reports export to CSV and Excel.

What reports do I get?+

Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, trial balance, general ledger, transaction detail, and a 1099 contractor summary — all computed from a real double-entry ledger, never estimated by AI, and exportable for your tax preparer.

Give the AI your documents. Get your evenings back.

Set up your business and upload your first statement in under five minutes.
